Warm weather (unseasonably warm weather) decreases rodent activity and brings termites early?
First and foremost, we want to wish all of you a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
Rodent activity has been unusually slow at Macy’s Termite & Pest Control. During the winter months, we tend to see an increase in rodent and wildlife activity because they tend to creep in areas of your home which are warm. As warm blooded animals, rodents need protection and shelter from cooler temperatures just like humans! Because of the unseasonably warm weather, we are predicting that termites swarm early this year. This has already been the case in a few areas in Florida. Swarming season tends to begin in late March or early April. However, this year we may begin to see termite season begin in early to mid-march. We are prepared and even with a little cold front; it’s not stopping the overall climate control and activity that’s been brewing outdoors. With that said, move wood piles away from your house!
For examples on 2/12 and 2/13 we had the coldest weather we’ve seen all winter. The next 5 days call for temps 78/79 as the high!

Stay tuned and we’ll keep you up to date with what activity we’re seeing!
