Rodents love to settle in homes during the winter months for food, water, and warmth. Your kitchen is the prime target, because all three can be found in this area of your home. It’s bad enough to think about their existence in your home, but then when you think about the diseases they carry and spread is a whole other story. Hantavirus and encephilitis are just a couple of the many diseases rodents carry and spread through their feces, urine, and direct bites! Just by coming into your home, they can bring fleas, ticks, and lice which can transfer to your pets, furniture, your children and you!
The scariest thing about how rodents enter your home is that they can squeeze through the tiniest spaces that you would never guess. For example, a rat can fit through an opening the size of a quarter. A mouse can fit through a hole smaller than the size of a DIME!
Once they get in, they start to destroy functional components of your home such as eletrical wires (which cause fires…HAZARD). Then they begin to colonize in your attic, burrows, and under concrete porches, in the walls and other hard to reach places.
